Financial AdvisorWhat people are saying about Merrill Lynch:
"When I first came to Merrill Lynch, having had no experience in the financial world, I went into the training program. The training program at Merrill is known in the financial world as being one of the best. Financial advisors at Merrill Lynch are thought to be the most well-trained. And I think the reason for that is because it doesn't end after your first year. I'm still going to training sessions, and I've been here for ten years."

Ivy Exec's 7 Tips for Re-Entry Success
(1) Develop a personalized re-entry plan: Complete an honest self-assessment. Understand and strategically analyze your strengths and weaknesses, and clarify your career goals. Use this opportunity to recognize what you enjoy doing and when you feel the most fulfilled professionally. Your action plan should be specific and goal-oriented. Be realistic about the time it will take for you to re-enter the workforce.
(2) Be flexible in your job search. Be realistic about the level, role, and salary available to off-rampers.
(3) Tap into and continue building your network: Reach out to former colleagues, friends, and other members of your personal network. Utilize your membership in professional organizations and alumni associations to build your current network base and learn about any potential opportunities. Develop a compelling elevator pitch, an essential tool of networking.
(4) Consider taking continuing education courses to update critical business knowledge and refresh any technology-based skills. Maintain your professional licenses. Attend professional conferences and read trade journals to stay up-to-date on changes which may be impacting your field.
(5) Stay confident! Many on-rampers begin to lose confidence and suffer self-doubt as their job search continues. Consider meeting regularly with a career coach to recalibrate and remain focused.
(6) Update your resume: Consider making your resume accomplishments-oriented instead of chronological. Add any relevant volunteer work you did during your time off. Address the gap in your cover letter, and make sure the letter provides a compelling link between your prior experience and your future career goals.
(7) Practice interviewing: Rehearse! And then rehearse again. Learn to articulate the time you have spent out of the workforce in a constructive framework that is appealing to decision makers. Enlist your friends to conduct mock interviews.
