Mass Career Customization™: Customizing career paths to grow critical talent

From changing family structures, to women now being the majority of the entry level workforce, to aging baby boomers, to the arrival of Generations X and Y, never before have the collective characteristics of the employee changed so much in so little time. Yet, the expectations of the traditional workplace and the one-size-fits-all corporate ladder model of career progression have not. The result? A structural misalignment between the workplace and workforce. Business leaders who recognize the effect of these workforce trends can gain competitive edge with mass career customization (MCC). MCC provides an approach that enables a more adaptive, corporate lattice™ model and responds to today’s realities about how work gets done and careers are built.

The Leadership Challenge: Inspiring team accountability in challenging dynamics

Successful executives are not only responsible for delivering results but also for building high-performing teams that function well. Leaders are measured more by the collective accountability of their teams than by individual achievement. Panelists discuss how they’ve developed team-based operational principles and how—as women—they have applied these principles to achieve organizational deliverables.

“Centered Leadership” is a distinctive approach to developing female leaders, created as part of the North American Women’s Initiative at McKinsey & Company, with roots in positive psychology, research on leadership, and interviews with women leaders from around the world. Its five themes (Meaning, Energizing, Framing, Connecting and Engaging) form a holistic approach to leadership that sustains women as they take on increasingly challenging roles.
