 PANELS
New Frontiers:
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship, a game of risk and chance, used to be the exclusive domain of the male population. Not any more. A growing number of women are venturing into self-employment. Many who are inclined to start their own enterprises believe entrepreneurship could provide a way to satisfy their “need for new challenges,” the wish to “be one's own boss,” and the goal of a “better organized working life.” Our high profile panelists will throw some light on women and entrepreneurship, reflecting on their own specific challenges as women journeying to new frontiers.
Globalization:
Passport to Business Abroad
In the age of instant communication, the world is truly at any CEO's fingertips. As companies expand into the global marketplace, they continually face challenges in all aspects of business. These panelists will share their insights on the operational, legal, and cultural dimensions of globalization, as well as the potential positive impact of “globalizing” one's own career.
Life Management:
Achieving Balance in Life Choices
The concept of mutual exclusivity between career and self or career and family will be dismissed by these inspiring panelists, who have successfully achieved balance within their own lives. These women can provide words of wisdom from both first-hand experience and extensive research on how women can effectively prioritize their schedules to accomplish both personal and professional goals.
Off the Beaten Path:
Non-Profit & Socially
Responsible Alternatives
Women have played a vital role in the social work profession as pioneers and founders, practitioners, policy analysts, and academicians. Panelists recognize the strengths of female workers in the social sector and encourage dialogue on alternate and socially conscious careers for women in a broad range of other fields, including microfinance, socially responsible investing, and nonprofit management.
Designing Women :
Fashion Forward Leaders in Retailing
The fashion and luxury industry continues to evolve, as increasing numbers of retailers fight for the attention of the growing young affluent market. A strong economy and rising disposable incomes have contributed to the growth of the luxury goods market. This panel will discuss key success factors and trends in capturing the discerning tastes of consumers, focusing on marketing, store experience, assortment, and product design. Hear from an incredible group of women within the industry and learn about the roles they play within their organizations. Co-sponsored by the Fashion and Luxury Club.
Wired Up:
Technological Advancements
A century ago Marie Curie asked, “How can we encourage more women with exceptional abilities to pursue careers in [math, science, and engineering]?” This panel on technological advancements features innovative women who are pushing the envelope. Our tech-savvy panelists and innovators are at the forefront of a wide range of industries, expanding the vision for women in high tech investing, telecommunications, and healthcare, now and in the future.
Trading Up:
Women of Wall Street
In the industry that inspired the term “glass ceiling,” many women have broken through once seemingly impenetrable barriers. Women's achievements of positions of responsibility on Wall Street, as well as recognition and rewards, have required sound decision making, risk taking and social networking skills. Hear how these panelists are navigating their respective organizations and achieving their individual goals in the fields of investment management, investment banking, sales and trading, and capital markets.
