Invitation to Join Harvard College for Women in Technology Summit : February 16

Two student groups at Harvard College : HDot and 85Broads will again join forces to host the second, annual intercollegiate Women in Technology Summit (WiTS!) on February 16, 2008 , at the Harvard College campus.

Last year, the Women in Technology Summit! provided a much-needed forum for discussion and in-depth analysis of issues concerning women in technology. We'd like to invite Wharton Women in Business to join the WiTS! 2008 Team as a campus liaison and help us publicize the summit enthusiastically at UPenn. 2008 is looking to gather campus liaisons on campuses along the entire coast to promote this annual discussion forum for women in technology. Primary responsibilities of campus liaisons include emailing relevant lists on campus, hanging posters in highly visible student areas, and eventually joining us for pre-event dinner with many of our illustrious speakers from Microsoft, Google, Cisco, SAP, Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, etc.

If you have any questions or concerns, or are able to help out in any or all of the above capacities, please feel free to contact pjaju@fas.harvard.edu

WWIB – Wharton Women Mentorship Program Overview

We are excited to introduce the first ever WWIB – Wharton Women Mentorship Program pilot program this month!

Wharton Women is the undergraduate sister organization to WWIB and has amazing members who are thrilled to have the opportunity to link up with mentors from WWIB and hear about our experiences. What better way to give back to the community than to mentor young women who are embarking on the same journey we did just a few short years ago?

As a formal mentorship program, we hope to provide the following benefits for the Wharton Women participants:

- General career counseling (on-going)
- Resume reviews
- Interview workshops / Mock interviews during recruiting periods
- Sharing experiences about the MBA program at Wharton and getting an MBA in general
- Networking (on-going)

We envision this mentorship program to be the platform for both organizations’ members to develop lasting relationships, even past graduation. All of us have benefited greatly from mentors throughout our career and this is a great opportunity to give back to the Wharton community by helping these extremely talented and ambitious young women.

Kick-off networking event:

We would like to have a kick-off networking event on Wednesday, March 19th (6-7:30pm, location TBD) to let the members of Wharton Women meet members of WWIB more casually, before they sign up for specific mentors via webcafe. At this event, WWIB women will cluster off by industry experience (consulting, marketing, entrepreneurship, finance), which would allow Wharton Women members to talk to various potential mentors in industries they are interested in learning more about.

The official sign-ups for mentors would then be the last week of March, and the first one-on-one meetings between mentors would be targeted to be over the first week of April.

Much of the mentorship program will be self-paced based on each mentor-mentee pair’s desire to meet. However, throughout the year we will provide formal events which touch on the topics and benefits highlighted above.

Since this is a pilot program, we will to set up mentorship pairs, and then plan few select events for the rest of the year. The full Mentorship Program will begin in earnest at the start of the new school year in September.

Please go to webcafe to sign up to be a mentor. Detail about the kickoff events to follow.

External Relations Team
