WWIB Functions
ADMISSIONS
One of the dominant priorities for Wharton Women In Business continues to be encouraging more women to pursue and obtain an MBA. We approach this goal through a robust calendar of outreach efforts, all of which reinforce the open lines of communication that exist between prospective students and current students of Wharton.
2007-2008 functions include:
Email Buddy Program
Pair up with a current female Wharton student who can answer all of your questions via email. This program is administered on a rolling basis throughout the year. If you are interested, please e-mail our Admission Officers: Urvashi Singh (urvashis@wharton.upenn.edu) and So Young Park (soyp@wharton.upenn.edu) with a brief description of your educational/professional background, post-MBA career aspirations, and interests while at Wharton. The information will be used to match you with a current student who has similar experience and interests.
Coffee Chats
Meet a current female Wharton student in your hometown. Details and locations are announced on student2student (Wharton's E-talk).
Attend Prospective Day in the Fall
This venue is designed for prospective students representing a minority group, including women, to inform applicants and potential applicants about the value and rigor of MBA Programs. Activities include essay reviews, mock classes, campus tours and opportunities to have small group discussions with current students, among others.

ALUMNAE RELATIONS
The Alumnae Relations Officer is WWIB's primary liaison with Wharton Alumnae Associations worldwide. WWIB officers firmly believe that Wharton Women in Business provides more than a two-year membership and engaging Wharton Alumnae in our events is a critical mission for this year's team.
Specific Alumnae events fall within four broad categories
- Foster Alumnae and student interaction
- Support Alumnae participation in WWIB's annual conference
- Provide a forum for Alumnae to assist student development
- Promote the Wharton Alumnae Network
Foster Alumnae and student interaction
This year, in collaboration with Wharton Clubs around the world, the Alumnae Relations Officer is organizing dinners and receptions for Alumnae and current students during the summer and winter breaks. Additionally, the Alumnae Relations Officer assists networking amongst second-year students who are intending to move after graduation to particular domestic or international regions.
Support Alumnae participation in WWIB's annual conference
WWIB's Alumnae Relations Officer assists the Conference Co-Chairs in contacting Alumnae networks to distribute invitations and determine appropriate Alumnae speakers. Additionally, the Alumnae Relations Officer participates in the selection of the Kathleen McDonald Distinguished Alumna Award given each year during the WWIB Conference.
Provide a forum for Alumnae to assist student development
Throughout the year, WWIB, together with the External Affairs Office, invites Alumnae speakers to share their professional and personal experience with current students on issues of interest to women in business. This year, the Alumnae Relations Officer plans to pioneer a mentorship program, assigning Alumnae mentors to current students according to industrial and geographical focus.
Promote the Wharton Alumnae Network
WWIB is intrinsically involved in supporting students in their transition into the Alumnae community upon graduation and maintains a constant dialogue with the External Affairs Office. Using internal contact lists, the WAVE database and WWIB work very hard to ensure that its members stay involved after leaving Wharton.

(e.g. banking, consulting, technology and manufacturing) - A faculty-led workshop to develop contract and general business negotiation skills
- A first-year student/second-year student mentor program
- Educational events with Career Services
