Alumnae
Alumnae Relations serves as WWIB’s primary liaison with Wharton Alumni Associations and Wharton Alumni worldwide. Our goal is to extend the WWIB relationship beyond the two years at Wharton by promoting Alumnae’s life-long engagement with the Wharton community.
Specific Alumnae projects and events fall within five broad categories:
- Help develop the Wharton Alumnae Network
WWIB is inherently involved in supporting students during their transition into the Alumnae community upon graduation and maintains a regular dialogue with the External Affairs Office to support these efforts. Using internal contact lists, the Wharton alumni on-line network WhartonConnect and WWIB work very hard to ensure that its members stay involved after leaving Wharton. - Support Alumnae participation in WWIB’s annual conference and events
WWIB’s Alumnae Relations Officer assists the WWIB Annual Conference Co-Chairs in contacting Alumnae networks to distribute invitations and determine appropriate Alumnae speakers. Additionally, the Alumnae Relations Officer participates in the selection of the Kathleen McDonald Distinguished Alumna Award given each year during the WWIB Conference. WWIB also seeks active Alumnae sponsorship, support and participation in other related events and activities. - Foster Alumnae and student interaction
In collaboration with Wharton Clubs around the world, the Alumnae Relations Officer is organizing dinners and receptions for Alumnae and current students during the school year and breaks. Additionally, the Alumnae Relations Officer assists networking amongst second-year students who are intending to move after graduation to particular domestic or international regions. - Provide a forum for Alumnae to mentor and coach current students
Throughout the year, WWIB, together with the External Affairs Office, invites Alumnae speakers to share their professional and personal experience with current students on issues of interest to women in business. - Improve career opportunities for Wharton alumnae
WWIB continues to advocate for an outreach program that helps Wharton increase brand recognition among potential employers of Wharton women students in the U.S. and overseas markets
